The Game

Game Concept: “Selective Wrath”

Genre: Online Co-Op Action RPG / Boss Raid
Players: 4-player online team

Core Premise:

In this world, bosses are sentient judges of battle who choose their opponents mid-fight. When your 4-player squad enters the boss arena, the boss scans each member’s stats, loadout, and playstyle, then decides which one(s) to personally fight. The others won’t just get a free pass, they’ll face separate threats, environmental hazards, or be tasked with objectives to weaken the boss.

Co-Op Twist – Boss Decision System

The boss evaluates each player individually:

  • Strength vs. Weakness Targeting:

    • The boss may target the strongest player to prove dominance.

    • Or they may hunt the weakest to quickly remove a liability.

  • Role-Based Choices:

    • Against a healer/support )--boss may disable them early.

    • Against a tank -- boss may test their endurance.

    • Against a high-DPS class -- boss may keep distance or counterattack hard.

  • Performance History:

    • The boss remembers if a player dealt the killing blow to its minions earlier, or dodged every attack last time, and will focus on them.

Dynamic Fight Structure (Per Phase):

  1. Phase 1 – Selection Round

    • Boss scans players’ stats and actions in real-time.

    • Chooses 1–2 main combatants for direct battle.

    • Remaining 2–3 players handle side challenges (activating mechanisms, defending NPCs, collecting artifacts to weaken the boss).

  2. Phase 2 – Swap & Pressure

    • Boss changes targets mid-fight based on new stats (e.g., if healer is buffing too much, they become the new target).

    • Previous targets get a cooldown to regroup, heal, and prep traps.

  3. Phase 3 – Final Wrath

    • Boss may choose to fight all 4 at once or single out the “most dangerous” player for a brutal 1v1, while others defend them.

Team Strategy Layer:

  • Build Balance Matters: Teams can intentionally diversify stats so the boss’s decision is predictable, or try to trick the boss into targeting a specific player.

  • Role Coordination: Non-targeted players aren’t idle, they control fight pacing, create openings, and manage environment hazards.

  • Agro Manipulation: Some skills let you fake low stats to bait or avoid the boss’s attention.

How it Works:

  • When your team enters the arena, the boss scans everyone.

  • It looks at your health, damage, defense, healing, and even how you’ve been fighting.

  • Then it picks 1 or 2 people to fight directly.

  • The rest of the team doesn’t just stand around, they get side tasks like weakening the boss, defending a point, or solving quick challenges to help their friends.

Why It’s Fun:

  • Every fight feels different because the boss might go for the biggest threat one time and the weakest player the next.

  • You can trick the boss into going after a certain teammate by changing how you play.

  • Players not fighting the boss directly still have important rolesm, like setting traps, finding weak spots, or stopping the boss from healing.

Why People Will Keep Playing:

  • You never know who the boss will choose, keeps the game fresh.

  • It’s not just about having the highest stats, it’s about how your team works together.

  • Sometimes you’re the target, sometimes you’re the one helping your friends survive.
